According to a study released by the European Congress on Obesity in Amsterdam, it is not decreased physical  activity rather the habit of Overeating that has caused the epidemic of Obesity which has gripped United States for more than 3 decades. Professor Boyd A. Swinburn who is the Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Obesity Prevention at Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia, explained in a interview over the phone with Reuters Health. It is a first of its kind Study that compared physical activity and food consumption in the American population.
Lack of exercise and the increased eating of unhealthy food, both contribute to the increase in waist lines and morbidity from heart diseases. The study also maintained that obesity had now reached epidemic proportions in the US and would adversely affect the health conditions of the people especially of the younger generation.
